My dad the inspiration

House of the Rising Sun (The Be Good Tanyas)
Rathmullen House is an hotel in Donegal about an hour from Derry, if you take it easy. We were going there for a particular reason, my father. Well more precisely a painting of Rita Duffys' which she painted in her early days, which she told me was based heavily on her memories of my dad and his shop Alexanders.
Sweet Dreams (Jethro Tull)
I had phoned ahead just to make sure it was still there and it was. Eileen the housekeeper commented that he was a fierce looking man. He wasn't really, he was a pussy cat.
Anyway we got there and went in and met Eileen and she took us round to see the painting. Well he was fierce looking LOL.
Morning Sun (John Wilsons Taste)
Although it did not exactly look like my dad the red hair was there. He used to repair his apron when the string broke by putting holes in the material and thread the string through and then tie a big knot to hold them.
He always wore a big thick jumper under his coat and I can remember getting that scale behind him. When we got that it was his first step into the digital age and his last he didn't handle progress very well.

Anyway judge for yourself. Everybody Knows (Leonard Cohen)
